Akın Süreyya Akınözü was born on September 22, 1990, in Ankara, Turkey. His mother, Özlem Akınözü, is a well-known actress and voice artist, while his father is Tamer Akınözü. After completing his high school education at TED Ankara College, he went to the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied Applied Mathematics. During his university years, he developed an interest in the arts and decided to pursue a career in acting. Upon returning to Turkey, he received acting training at Craft Atelier in Istanbul.
Akınözü made his television debut in 2015 with a small role as “Acemi Oğlan” in Muhteşem Yüzyıl Kösem (Magnificent Century: Kösem). He later appeared in Arkadaşlar İyidir as Yunus and played a leading role in Aslan Ailem.
He portrayed “Ömer” in Payitaht Abdülhamid until episode 17, but his major breakthrough came with the 2019-2021 TV series Hercai, where he played Miran Aslanbey. The series made him a household name not only in Turkey but also in Spain, Latin America, and Russia.
In Spain, Hercai earned him several awards, including “Mr. Nova” and “Best Couple” (shared with co-star Ebru Şahin) by popular vote. He was also awarded “Most Handsome Actor” at the Premios Telenovelas España TV Awards.
Between 2021 and 2022, he played Cemal Kaya, a father of three, in Kaderimin Oyunu (The Game of My Destiny). His performance was especially praised by Latin American audiences.
In 2022–2023, Akınözü starred in Tuzak (The Trap) as Umut Yörükoğlu / Çınar Yılmaz, which further expanded his international fanbase, particularly in Russia. In 2023, he appeared in a commercial for IVI, one of Russia’s largest digital streaming platforms.
In 2024, he took on the role of Kılıç Tütüncü in the ATV drama Yaban Çiçekleri (Wild Flowers).
